I am 25 year old male student who is diagnosed with hiatus hernia (small hiatus hernia exactly as in endoscopy reports) taking 10 mg ilapro ppi once in 3-4 days, I have read some research paper on ppi that suggest taking long term ppi may cause adverse side effect, what are the option do I have? Should I get this thing operated? Yes I have GERD because of this hernia no pain or anything else.

So comments of surgery is not worth at this juncture. Long term uses of PPI does not have adverse side effects, just it becomes less effective or you become dependent upon that.
